Rick Robertson

Bio

Rick retired in July of 2022 as a commander with the Aurora (IL) Police Department. He began his law enforcement career in 1992 as a Corrections Deputy with the Kane County Sheriff's Office before joining APD in 1993. Throughout his career, Rick worked in various capacities including Uniformed Patrol, Training, Intel, and the Special Operations Group (Gang and Drug Unit). In 1995, Rick was selected as a member of the Department's Special Response Team, where he served in as an operator, sniper, master breacher, team leader, and team commander. Rick completed training at the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy (Session #254) and the Harvard Kennedy School for Senior Executives in State and Local Government program. Rick's dedication to his profession led him to gain international experience as well. He traveled to Israel, where he provided low light training at their police academy and trained with the Israeli National Police on counter-terrorism tactics. Currently, Rick is contracted as an instructor by the Homeland Security Training Institute and New Mexico Tech. In addition, he also serves as the vice president and a director for the Synagogue Security Council of North America, a 501(c)(3) organization committed to enhancing the security capabilities of the Jewish community.
